Ukrainian drones struck military targets in St. Petersburg in what Russian officials described as an unprecedented attack on the city. The governor urged residents to remain indoors for the first time since the war began. Russia said it shot down hundreds of Ukrainian drones targeting a naval base and other military facilities near the city.

The assault occurred on the final day of an economic forum hosted by President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. In response, Putin said Russia would strengthen its air defenses against Ukrainian drone attacks that have penetrated deep into Russian territory.
