Plain ("we", "us", or "our") is a news reader app and website operated by Low Signal Labs. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
What we collect
We collect very little. Specifically:
- Subscription status — if you subscribe to Plain Pro, RevenueCat (our payment processor) manages your subscription. We receive only your subscription status (active or inactive), not your payment details.
- Anonymous usage data — RevenueCat may collect anonymized identifiers to manage your subscription across devices. No personally identifiable information is tied to this.
What we do not collect
- Your name, email address, or contact information
- Your location
- Your reading history or browsing behavior
- Any data for advertising purposes
Third-party services
Plain uses the following third-party services:
- RevenueCat — handles in-app subscriptions and purchase verification. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
- Apple App Store — processes payments for Plain Pro subscriptions. See Apple's privacy policy.
- Anthropic — our AI provider used to curate and summarize news content on our servers. No user data is sent to Anthropic.
News content
Plain aggregates and summarizes publicly available news from RSS feeds. We do not store any personal data related to the content you read.
Children's privacy
Plain is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Plain after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
