Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show and The Traitors dominated the first night of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, winning seven and six awards respectively. The ceremony took place Saturday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny received seven Emmys, including outstanding variety special (live), outstanding choreography for variety or reality programming, outstanding production design for a variety special, and outstanding music direction. Music director Miguel Gandelman said the hardest part of producing the show was coordinating with Bad Bunny while he was on tour in Colombia and Chile.
Mariska Hargitay won two Emmys for outstanding documentary or nonfiction special and outstanding directing for My Mom Jayne: A Film By Mariska Hargitay. In an emotional speech, Hargitay honored feminist icon Gloria Steinem, who died earlier this week. Hargitay said Steinem told her the most important thing people can do for each other is to know each other through stories. Backstage, Hargitay said she is at a place in her life where she says yes to new opportunities and does not limit herself or let fear govern her decisions.
Sabrina Carpenter moved halfway to EGOT status by winning an Emmy for outstanding variety special (pre-recorded) for The Muppet Show, for which she is credited as an executive producer and performer. Jimmy Kimmel won for game show host for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Netflix's Love on a Spectrum won three Emmys, including outstanding casting for a reality program. An edited presentation of the Creative Arts Emmy ceremonies will broadcast September 12 at 8:00 PM ET/PT on FXX.
