Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth prevented four Army officers from receiving promotions to one-star general rank. Some of the officers whose promotions were blocked have connections to senior Army generals that Hegseth removed from their positions earlier this year.
Among those with ties to the blocked officers is former Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George, who was ousted by Hegseth. The decision to block the promotions represents an extension of the Pentagon chief's earlier moves to reshape Army leadership.
