Apple has increased subscription prices for Apple Music and Apple One, marking the first adjustment to Apple Music pricing since 2022. The changes affect multiple subscription tiers and will impact millions of subscribers worldwide.

The price increases apply to both individual and family plans for Apple Music. Apple One, which bundles Music with TV+, iCloud storage, and other services, has also seen price adjustments. The company simultaneously raised prices for iCloud+ storage subscriptions in several countries, with tiered plans ranging from basic to premium options.

Apple has not disclosed the specific percentage increases or provided detailed reasoning for the adjustments. However, the timing coincides with broader industry challenges. The company recently explained that rising memory and storage chip costs, driven by demand from the AI industry's data center expansion, have forced it to raise prices on multiple products.

"We have never seen a component price increase this much, this quickly," Apple stated when announcing price hikes for iPads and MacBooks. The company said it had previously shielded customers from these increases but has now reached a point where price adjustments are necessary.

Memory chip prices have surged dramatically. Dynamic random access memory costs rose as much as 98% in the first quarter of 2026 and are expected to jump another 58% to 63% in the current quarter, according to industry tracker TrendForce. AI chipmakers like Nvidia have signed long-term deals with memory manufacturers, prioritizing their orders over consumer electronics companies.

Even with Apple's renowned supply chain relationships, the company cannot completely absorb these costs. Competitors like Dell have faced even steeper price increases. Micron, a major memory supplier, has locked in $22 billion in long-term commitments from customers seeking to secure their memory supplies.

This pricing pressure extends across the tech industry. Research firm IDC estimates the smartphone market will experience its biggest-ever annual decline of nearly 14% this year, while the PC market is expected to fall 11.3%.

Industry analysts expect iPhone prices will increase next. Nabila Popal, senior research director at IDC, noted that Apple strategically announced these price hikes before the iPhone launch to ensure headlines focus on new features rather than cost increases.

New subscribers and existing customers will transition to the updated pricing at their next billing cycle, which begins next month. Apple Music competes with Spotify and Amazon Music in the streaming market. The subscription price adjustment represents a significant shift after the company maintained its pricing structure for roughly four years.
