The US military attacked the Palau-flagged tanker Settebello off the coast of Oman on Wednesday, accusing it of not complying with directions. Three Indian sailors were killed in the strike. India's government said 21 crew members were rescued following the attack.
The strike was part of escalating military operations in the Middle East, where the US and Iran exchanged strikes for the second consecutive day. Iran responded by targeting American assets in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, with reported damage to Bahrain's capital city.
