Sony Pictures is developing 24 Jump Street, with original stars Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube in talks to return for the third installment of the action comedy franchise. The project marks a revival of the series after more than a decade since 22 Jump Street released in 2014.

The Jump Street films originated as a modern reboot of the 1980s television series of the same name. The first film, 21 Jump Street, released in 2012 and became a surprise hit, earning over $200 million worldwide. Its sequel, 22 Jump Street, surpassed that success in 2014, earning more than $330 million globally. Both films followed undercover police officers played by Hill and Tatum as they infiltrated educational institutions to solve crimes, with Ice Cube playing their commanding officer.

Plans for a third film have circulated for years, with various approaches discussed including a crossover with the Men in Black franchise. That project, which would have been titled MIB 23, was discussed publicly but never moved forward. The current development represents a return to the core Jump Street concept without the crossover element.

The original films were directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who went on to direct The Lego Movie and produce the Spider-Verse animated films. Their involvement in the new project has not been announced. Hill and Tatum have both continued successful careers in the intervening years, with Hill focusing more on dramatic roles and directing, while Tatum has appeared in action films and the Magic Mike franchise.

The project remains in early development, with no production timeline or release date announced. The talks with the original stars represent preliminary discussions rather than finalized deals. Sony Pictures has not commented on the status of the screenplay or who will direct the film.
